Some small territories are marked by their diversity, and this is certainly true of our surroundings. They will capture the traveler's attention.

A few plants are enough to demonstrate the micro-climatic contrasts in this region of the upper Allier.

Thus, the plants also reflect the diversity of the soils. From the prickly pear to the elder-scented orquis, the rich volcanic soils offer flourishing crops and beautiful meadows.

- The Rain Cross : 6 km, easy level

- The Ramade Valley : 9 km, difficult level

- From Île d'Amour to Mont Saint-Roch : approximately 1 hour, unmarked trail

- The Lair Marsh : 15.5 km, easy level

- The Limagne Marsh : 7 km, easy level

- La Durande : 11 km, very difficult level

- The Hermitage of Saint-Gal : 6.5 km, difficult level

- The Pourcheresse spring : 3.5 km, very easy level

- The Fairy Tile : 18 km; difficult level

- The Boussillon Trail : 8.5 km, easy level

- La Pierre Trouée : 8 km, easy level

- Mont Mouchet : 3 km or 6 km

But also circuits

more suited to mountain biking enthusiasts,

more difficult and steep.

SITES TO VISIT

Several destinations will be suggested for your visits, depending on your preferences, tastes, family composition, means of transport...

- Le Puy-en-Velay, 45 km away : this historic and unusual city will delight your eyes with its architecture, and if you are brave, why not try climbing the steps towards the church of the Aiguille St Michel.

- Lavoûte-Chilhac, only 14 km away , built on a bend of the Allier river, and right next door, Chilhac , a small town classified among the most beautiful villages in France and bordered by impressive basalt columns.

- Chavagnac-Lafayette, 14 km away , with its historic castle and listed gardens.

- Ally, 25 km away , with its wind farm, its mill to visit, but above all the Auvergne truffade to taste.

- Lavaudieu, 25 km away , is also a listed village, whose abbey and cloister are worth visiting.

- Chanteuges 7 km away , a magnificent village where you can visit, by reservation, the Allier salmon farm.

- St Arcons d'Allier (7 km) and St Julien des Chazes (12 km), 2 villages close to each other on the road to the Gorges de l'Allier.

- La Chaise-Dieu, 50 km away , is a historic town with majestic religious monuments (classical music festival every August).

- La Chapelle-Laurent, 30 km away , you will find the best Auvergne cheeses there.

- Brioude, 25 km away , its old quarter, its lace museum, but above all its basilica with extraordinary stained glass windows.

ACTIVITIES

Ready for some activities?

So follow the guide, we're going to suggest a few: calm, active, even thrilling:

- For children, in July and August, the Parc de l'Ile d'Amour in Langeac (3 km) sets up inflatable attractions, as well as swings, slides, and a small unsupervised beach for splashing around. Drinks and ice cream are also available for purchase on site.

- Also in Langeac, the Accro-branches course, which includes a zip line crossing the Allier river, will guarantee you some good times.

- Why not drift along the calm water in a canoe or kayak , or even enjoy a rhythmic descent in a rafting trip ? The Tonic Aventure base in Langeac offers both activities with departures from different locations depending on the activity chosen.

- Fancy a horse or pony ride ? No problem. By reservation, Mathilde from the Combeneyre Stables in Aubazaguet (7 km away) will take you to the hills and plains.

Have you ever tried the Vélorail ? It's a unique experience, located in Pradelles, 50 km away, and well worth the trip for the day. Ideal for families.

Who will dare to try the Via Ferrata ? Beware of vertigo! You can choose between the Miramande route in Saint-Jean-Lachalm (26 km) or the Puy de Juscles route in Pertuis (45 km). Calling all daring and courageous!

- Who's afraid of the Beast of Gévaudan ? Not recommended for young children, the Beast Museum is located in Auvers, 16 km away.
